The Ministry of Justice, jointly with the Social Activities and Practice Institute organised a Public Support Council to review Bulgaria’s commitments with regards to the implementation of Directive 2012/29/EU establishing minimum standards on the rights, support and protection of victims of crime which is to come into force in Bulgaria in November 2015.
The Public Council will be held on 21 October 2015, 15:00 hrs, hall 205, Ministry of Justice. The country’s commitments with regards to the implementation of Directive 2012/29/EU will be presented as well as the relevant activities contributing to the commitments’ fulfilment.
The Social Activities and Practice Institute will present results from current and future projects on implementing the Directive’s requirements and the country’s capability to respond to these requirements. Special attention will be paid to the progress in the implementation of Directive 2012/29/EU as well as to the future opportunities for training of judges, prosecutors, police representatives, doctors and social services from all 28 court districts as per the requirements of the Directive on supporting crime victims under project Justice befriends the child – training of practitioners for better cooperation.
A project on Enhancing the Competences of Probation Officers, contract No 93-00-237/27.04.2015, funded under the Small Grant Scheme BG 15 of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 will be presented at the SupportCouncil along with the progress in the project’s delivery. Forthcoming project activities will also be discussed.
The invitation has been extended to representatives and experts from the State Agency for Child Protection, the Prosecutor's Office, Ministry of Justice, General Directorate for Execution of Sentences, Ministry of Interior, General Directorate National Police, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Academy of MoI, National Institute of Justice, Agency for Social Assistance, UNICEF – Bulgaria.
