Work meeting of the European Network
A work meeting of the European network for foster care development APFEL took place on Dec 1st and 2nd in Brussels. Participants were representatives of centres, services and associations from Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Great Britain, Spain, Norway and Ireland among others. Participants from Bulgaria were Nelly Petrova and Nadya Stoykova from Bulgaria.
Meetings of the thematic work groups also took place - the group for joint parenthood and foster care, for selection and training of candidates for foster parents and for the participation of children in the process of service provision. At the main meeting were discussed the methodical issues related to the exchange of practices and activities. Presented was the international experience of the various participants. A matter of particular interest was the presentation of Marie-France Lambert, head of the Belgian Francophone Foster Care Association, regarding the training visit in Canada and the concept of the normative and practical changes that take place there. Experience was shared also by representatives from France, Flamand Belgium and Bulgaria.
Organisation issues related to the legal status of APFEL were discussed, as well. The next regular meeting
will be on May 4th, 2012 in Brussels.
