Laboratory for multidisciplinary discussion of a case
On November, 2010 at 4 p.m. in the Community Support Centre in Sofia was held a Laboratory for multidisciplinary discussion of a case. Participants in the meeting were the tam of the Centre, representatives of the Child Protection Department, the Social Support Directorate in Sofia, the State Agency for Child Support, the Crisis Centre in Sofia, the Home for temporary accommodation "Krasna Poliana", non-government organizations, and pedagogical advisers from schools in Sofia. Discussed was the case of a child at risk, presented by the Social Support Directorate "Oborishte". Each of the specialists at the meeting express his or her view on the problem with the aim of finding a better solution for it and taking the best measures that would correspond to the best interest of the child.
Prevention of violence campaign in the Complex in Pazardjik
In the Complex for Social Service to Children and Families in Pazardjik was started a campaign for prevention of violence. Presentation on the topic was given by students from three schools in Pazardjik. The campaign aims at the introduction of the children to the types of violence as well as to teach them how to protect themselves from violence.
New Group in the CSSCF in Pazardjik
At the Complex for Social Services to Children and Families in Pazardjik started a new group for parents with children between 0 and 3 years old. In the group are discussed various topics related to the development of the children at this age. It is expected that outside specialists will be involved in the discussions according to the topics presented.
Group work with children over 15 years of age in the Community Support Center
In the Community support Center of SAPI in Sofia group work with children over 15 years of age was organized within the program "Development of skills for independent life". The program involves activities that support the youths during the stage of transition to independent life. On 18.10.2010 the youths attended the Labour Bureau in Vyzrajdane with the aim to get familiar with the opportunities to find jobs, to use the available services, and to get into contact with employers. The youths acquired some knowledge about the employers requirements and about the competition on the job market. Discussed was the motivation of the children regarding their education and its important role in their future. The children showed their interest by asking question and willingness to start work.
The children from the group "Development of skills for independent life" attended the Sexual Health Center in Sofia
On 15.11.2010 the children from the group "Development of skills for independent life" attended the Sexual Health Center in Sofia on blvd. Dondikov, where experts informed them about the sexually transmitted diseases, about sexual culture and hygene, and about contraception. During the discussion the youths showed their knowledge on the subject and talked about the topics that they were interested in.
Mobile social work in Pazardjik as part of the campaign "Promotion of education"
On 08.11.2010 in the CSSCF in Pazardjik started mobile social work related to the campaign "Promotion of Education". The Complex asked the Municipality of Pazardjik to provide a list of the children from the region that are legally required to attend school during the school year 2010/2011 but there is a risk for them to drop out of school. Social workers from two sectors of the Complex are involved in the mobile social work. According to the preliminary schedule the social workers need to cover the villages in the Municipality of Pazardjik and to assess the risk for the children to drop out of the school system. During the week were held meetings with the governing structures of the Secondary School "Stefan Zahariev" in Pazardjik, the Central Kindergarten "Varbitsa" in Pazardjik, the Secondary School "St.St. Kiril and Methodius" in the village of Ivailo, and the Central Kindergarten "Detelina" in the village of Chernogorovo in order to obtain the addresses of the children. As a result visits of these addresses were organized where the social workers talked to the parents of the children or to their relatives and neighbours regarding current information about whether the child goes to school, and if not what are the reasons for that, and thus assessed the risk for the child to drop out of the school system. The mobile social work will continue throughout the whole of November.
