A member of the team of SAPI participated as a member of Eurochild in a training for national experts On May 20th and 21st in Prague, the Czech Republic, a training of 23 national experts was held within the framework of the project „Children's Rights for All". The project is implemented by the European non-government organization Inclusion Europe - European Organization of People with Intellectual Disabilities and Their Families in partnership with Charles University - Prague and Eurochild. The project started in December 2009 and within two years it will analyse the implementation of the United Nations Children's Rights Convention from the perspective of children with intellectual disabilities through surveys in the countries-members of the European Union. The role of the national experts - one from each Member Country /chosen as a result of a preliminary selection process/ - is to prepare national reports that will serve as a basis for a European comparative report presenting the situation at a Community level. The national reports of the experts will be prepared in compliance with special methodology of research developed for the project and presented at the two-day meeting in Prague. As a result, Inclusion Europe and Eurochild together with the national experts will work out recommendations regarding the policies at a national and European level in order to achieve a more full application of the Children's Rights Convention. The European comparative report as well as the recommendations will be presented at the European Conference for the Rights of the Children at the end of 2011. It is expected that about 200 people will participate in the event, among them members of the European Commission and the European Parliament, representatives of non-government organizations, international experts and other interested organizations.
