Right of the children victims to psychological help and child-friendly justice procedures

The project started in June 2011 and will continue until May 2013. SAPI is a partner of the leading organization Nobody's Children - Poland in its implementation, which takes place in a total of 4 countries: Poland, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Latvia.

The project is aimed at the basic key components:

  • Establishment of a network of professionals, focused on supporting children who have experienced violence, as well as establishment of a sustainable partnership with the participants in the training and with the organizations that they represent. Foreseen is a 200-hour specialized training for social workers and psychologists from centres and organizations that provide services to children victims of violence. Within the framework of the training grouop supervisin for the participants will also be provided. 
  • Development and introduction of the Internet website of SAPI on a special platform for communication between the participants in the training that would provide access to materials from the training and to allow the exchange of information, opinions and news between the participants. 
  • Organization of a national campaign "Bad Touch" that would aim at the increase of the public awareness to the problems of sexual abuse against children. The target group of the campaign are the parents, professionals working with children (teachers, pedagogues, psychologists and others), as well as the children themselves. The campaign will be organized through a TV and a Rdio clip, borchures, and publications for parents and professionals.
  • Preparation and issue of publications for children. One of them will be aimed at children between 7 and 11 years old and its goal would be the prevention of violence against children, as well as how to react and who to call when they encounter the phenomenon of violence. Another publication will inform the children what are their rights when they have to participate in a criminal or civil trial.
  • National conference dedicated to the topic for support of children victims of violence. It is planned that about 200 professionals wil take part, as well as people working in the state institutions responsible for the implementation and application of specific programs and plans, focused on the support of children victims of domestic and sexual violence.
  • Gathering of a National Expert Council for protection of children victims of crimes. The memebrs of the council will be professionals working to provide help to children victims of crimes and others; representatives of NGOs, representatives of local and public authorities, representatives of the justice system and from the academia. Within the frames of the project 8 meetings of the council will take place
