A package of integrative services for guaranteeing the rights of children participants in legal procedures
According to the international standards it is necessary that child justice introduces the principle for guaranteeing the best interest of the child. The project stimulates the participation of non-government organizations in the reformation of the system and the application of the international standards for child-friendly justice by working:
- to contribute for the provision of child-friendly justice;
- to support the hearing/interrogation of children victims or witnesses of crimes by trained specialists;
- to ensure and guarantee the rights of children participating in legal procedures in the Municipality of Vidin.
The project is very innovative in the sense that it works to support the state in finding mechanisms for the application of the international standards for child-friendly justice – the child hearing practice for children victims or witnesses of crimes is regulated, and a package of international (integrated) services is created.
It was implemented during the period September 2013 – February 2014 in the Municipality of Vidin, and funded by the Bulgarian-Swiss program for collaboration. 32 children have been supported, as well as 20 families, and 15 specialists from the region of Vidin.
