Children and Justice – Prevention of Abuse
The Program „Children and Justice – Prevention of Abuse“ of the Social Activities and Practices Institute aims to promote the development of policies in support of children victims of violence, children who have suffered abuse or have witnessed a crime; as well as to develop justice practices in our country that are adapted to the needs of the children. The program also contributes for the introduction of innovative models of work with children in conflict with the law, adhering to the main European documents, standards, and directives in the sphere of child justice. Its main objective is to promote the application of the principle of the best interest of the child and the child's well-being in all legislative and administrative activities and measures concerning children participating in legal procedures.
In order to contribute to the achievement of this goal, the Social Activities and Practices Institute carries out research and develops innovative practices, projects and services independently, as well as with the support and partnership from the state and non-government sectors in Bulgaria and other European countries such as England, Belgium, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Northern Ireland, Hungary, France, Scotland, etc.
As part of the Program we have created a Resource Centre in regards to the topics “The Child Witness”, “Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children”, and “Children in Conflict with the Law”. Each Resource Centre offers materials, articles, analyses and reports from studies of various practices in our country and in Europe, as well as products from projects that have been implemented by the Social Activities and Practices Institute in the sphere of the rights of the children witnesses and participants in legal procedures.
