Foster Care Celebration Brings together Foster Families in Sofia

On 08.10.2011 in the Park "Sveta Troitsa" (close to the cinema "Arena-Zapad") at 11 a.m. a celebration of foster care will take place, organized by the Regional Foster Care Centre and the Sofia Municipality - Ilinden.

The aim of the celebration is to promote the service foster care and to support the formation

of a community of foster families so that they will have the opportunity to share problems and experience.

The event is part of the UNICEF project "Extension of the model for foster care in Bulgaria".

Guests of the event will be foster families from Sofia and Sofia Region. There will be a music program with animation and a lot of games for the children.

The project "Extension of the model for foster care in Bulgaria" should be implemented in the period October 2009 - December 2011 in 9 regions of the country - Targovishte, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Smolian, Sofia-city, Sofia region, Shoumen, Pernik and Stara Zagora, and is implemented by 3 non-government organizations - the Foundation "International Social Service - Bulgaria", Association "Social Activities and Practices Institute" and Association "Samariani".

In respect to the project, in a total of 9 regions have been recruited, trained and confirmed over 250 families and 220 children have been placed in foster care.
