"Helping the Helpers" GSP 2004-2005

The project goal is to support the Child Welfare Reform in Bulgaria by improving the quality of work of Child Protection Departments,and services to children connected with the enforcement of secondary legislation re. prevention of child abandonment, de-institutionalization of children in residential care, social reintegration, foster care, etc. The project therefore aims to:
- develop professional work standards for intervision;
- provide supervision/intervision assistance to social workers in 10 pilot CPDs;
- provide training to 40 intervision group facilitators(so that CPDs are able to meet their own professional training needs for intervision group facilitators upon project completion);
- advocate for nation-wide application of intervision. Expected impact:
- development of national standards for intervision;
- supervision/intervision services made accessible to all social workers at CPDs;
- improvement of child protection services and increased social work quality.
